I did my first self portrait my junior year in high school in Nancy Kem's
art class. Since then I have returned to the subject of the self portrait
many times, and they have grown to be a major body of work.
There are many different aspects of the documentation. The work evolves
on many different levels, from my skill as a draftsman and painter, to the
various palettes, as well as process. In each work I find a window to the
past. Each piece is a window to a memory, a glimpse into my past. While
all my work generally is a reflection on my interpretation of the the world
and it's realities, the self portraits are the truest.
